Lights and action

Sliema mayor Nikki Dimech on Tuesday switched on the town's Christmas lights as roadworks were in full throttle to be completed by tomorrow. He asked residents to be patient because everything was about to come together and business would start picking up again soon. He thanked the shops who donated money for the lights but said he was disappointed that, due to the recession, less money was collected this year.
