Melita has increased commission on top-ups to authorised resellers from five to 10 per cent for the Christmas period, a company spokesman said yesterday. The communications group has also committed itself to retain the five per cent commission structure throughout 2010 and "the foreseeable future".
The spokesman said demand for Melita's top-ups was growing as its mobile subscriber based continued to expand. The latest pre-paid offers from Melita Mobile had contributed to the growth of the company's pre-paid market segment.
"Melita believes that by incentivising shop owners and resellers through a better commission structure, mobile customers will be able to enjoy a more convenient and easily accessible service when purchasing top-up cards," the spokesman said. "This measure forms part of Melita's plans to extend its retail network further, moving services and products as close as possible to its customers."
Last month Vodafone reduced resellers' commission on its top-up cards to three per cent from five.
