Fuel up by 1c
The price of diesel, petrol and kerosene has gone up by 1c per litre while gasoil will cost 2c more this month.
According to Enemalta's price revisions, unleaded petrol will cost €1.12, leaded went up to €1.19, diesel and kerosene will cost 97c and gasoil will be bought for 63c a litre.
The prices of leaded and unleaded petrol had remained unchanged over the previous two monthly revisions, following a 10c increase on both in August. The cost of diesel did not budge last month after it went up by a total of 3c over the previous two.
In this month's revisions thin fuel oil, mainly used by industry, also went up in price with TFO 200 increasing by 38c to €460 per metre ton, TFO 450 by 35c to €451 and TFO 900 by 32c to €436.
These revisions reflected the prices fetched by Enemalta for the latest shipments of imported fuel, the corporation said.

@D S Ganado: Your argument doesn't hold water at all. As you said the oil price is in constant flux but miraculously in Malta when the oil price goes down the prices remain the same, when it goes slightly up, immediately everything goes up. So I think you should get a life now.

David Stephen Ganado,
When the international oil prices fell, prices locally did not. Now that they are rising, on the other hand, they rise locally too! No one expects any miracles, but for God's sake, we expect fairness.
T Gauci,
1c per litre is not nothing. It may be nothing for you but it is something for everyone. The effect of fuel prices is not isolated. One should expect businesses to raise their prices too inasmuch as fuels are majotr inputs for all businesses. The effect is not going to be insignificant and you are very short-sighted and politically-biased if you think that the increase is to be discounted.
Besides, fuel prices here is already among the highest in the whole of Europe. This makes us uncompetitive even further and means that government (the paladin of competitiveness) is eroding our competitive edge too.

@Chris Finch
Sir, if you go to a shop to buy your monthly magazine and you find the price has increased, do you blame the government for it?? Do you bother to follow what is going on in the world?? The price of oil is in constant flux, so you expect miracles to happen here and the price to remian constant or only go down??? Get a life!

An early Christmas present from the government. Or maybe this is the first window opened in the advent calendar. I guess we can expect a surprise every day up to the 25th when we get the best present of all - Increased electricity and water bills.
Merry Christmas and peace be with us all.
