Defenceless birds

I would like to highlight the shooting of another protected bird, the short toed lark, which was downed in front of me at Dingli Cliffs, very near the road. I managed to pick the bird up just before the hunters appeared looking for it. I urge the authorities to enforce the law against those who have it in for these defenceless birds. One can hear illegal bird callers and CDs every day between 6 and 10 a.m. in different areas such as near the cart ruts at Buskett and Wied il-Ħesri at Siġġiewi.
