Wrong cross on Maltese flag

"Maltese" flags distributed at an official information activity in City Gate yesterday were recalled after it was pointed out that it carried the wrong cross.
The flags were being handed out as part of a road show on citizens' rights, called "European citizenship: not just words, but also concrete rights!", organised by the European Commission in Malta.
Shortly after Parliamentary Secretary Chris Said gave a speech, encouraging and endorsing the initiative, and flags started being distributed, it was pointed out that an eight-pointed Maltese cross placed in the middle of a strange looking shape had taken the place of the George Cross.
The organisers eventually recalled the embarrassing flags.
The information tour will continue today in Rotunda Square, Mosta and in Victory Square, Vittoriosa tomorrow.

How can anyone make such a mistake? Obviousely organisation and attention to detail is not this department`s forte. What can anyone say. One thing springs to mind. Give him a pay rise!

Now, honestly, why were such items not checked by whoever was responsible, prior to the event? Such news items are so ridiculous! Once again someone is to blame for this and must be put in place. We also are fully aware that there are certain sections (even if somewhat small) of the population that would like to have the George Cross removed from our national flag; now this latest mistake makes the whole issue slightly more interesting to interpret! Of course there might be no relation at all, but it is interesting to recall this mentality having read this news item!
