William Vella targeted remarkable scores of 575 and 104.8 on his way to winning the air rifle event in the Malta Autumn International Grand Prix which was held at the Bidnija ranges, yesterday.

Vella's overall score of 679.8 points earned him the honours in the international shoot, finishing ahead of Welshmen David Williams 656.6 and David Wright 650.6. Malta's Charlo Chircop was fourth (646.8), Lawrence Darmanin fifth (635.1) and Annabelle Borg sixth (593.6).

Meanwhile, Clive Farrugia is still leading the Skeet competition with 91 clays from a possible maximum of 100. He is followed by Jason Sciberras (87) and Rhys Price (86).

In Trap, the provisional leader is M. Wixey with 92 clays.

Both competitions will be concluded today with the remaining round of 25 clays before the final barrage.
