AFM detains people carrying drugs, modified shotguns
A number of people have been detained by Armed Forces of Malta in two separate operations yesterday.
Late afternoon, the AFM Maritime Squadron apprehended a boat carrying four people who were in possession of four modified shotguns, a bird-caller device, and a number of illegally-sized lead pellets. They were some 20 metres outside Rinella.
The shotguns' ammunition magazines had also been illegally modified to take more shotgun ammunition cartridges.
In another operation in Qormi late last night, two men and two women were detained during a vehicle check-point were found to be carrying illegal narcotics.
On approaching the check-point, the driver was observed slowing down abruptly and throwing items out of the window.
Four sachets containing a powdered drug and another with pills were retrieved from the ground by the AFM.
By the time the vehicle had reached the check-point, the 36-year old driver from Cospicua was also noticed fumbling with another sachet containing white powder, which he then swallowed.
The driver forcefully resisted arrest and all four people were handed to police Drug Squad investigators on site.

Good work by the AFM - they and the airport security people seem to apprehend/catch a lot more drug takers, pushers, and drug carriers then the regular police do - I wonder why that is?
Also no one seems to get caught in Paceville, which is an obvious place to look for drugs; but there again no drunk drivers are ever caught leaving Paceville at 2 or 3 am by the police either - I wonder why that is?

A bit of an idiotic comment don't you think?
People were in possession of illegally modified weapons and possibly heavy drugs.
What do you expect the police to do .... nothing?
Then we complain when nothing gets done.

Were the 4 in the speedboat members of the FKNK or yet more 'rogue' hunters?
