Edward de Bono, the originator of the lateral thinking concept, recently held an interactive seminar on thinking skills and creativity for St Edward's College International Baccalaureate diploma Sixth Form students.

Prof. de Bono, an Old Edwardian himself, introduced the students to his patented Six Thinking Hats Technique, which seeks to achieve balanced objectivity when criticising issues or concepts rather the usual negative way of focussing on identifying flaws and other negative aspects.

He also introduced the Sixth Formers to the benefits of challenging conventional thinking and questioning society's maxims, and intermittently set tasks for the students to apply his principles and theories in practice.
