Health care diplomas
Care Malta Ltd is offering two City and Guilds health care courses - the IVQ diploma and the specialist diploma in health care - early next year. It is the first local education and training centre accredited to offer these qualifications.
All lectures will be held at the Magister Academy in St Julian's. Care Malta will also offer course participants on-the-job training.
Course applications forms may be downloaded from www.caremalta.com or collected from Care Malta-run homes in Mosta, Rabat, Sliema, Żejtun, Cospicua and Mellieħa. Applications should be submitted by tomorrow.
Information systems management
Executive Training Institute (ETI), St Julian's, recently launched an M.Sc. in Information Systems Management (ISM) offered by the University of Greenwich. This postgraduate degree, which will start in January, is recognised at Level 7 in the Malta Qualifications Framework.
Upon successful completion of the programme, students should be proficient in the development of internet, web and database technologies and will have developed project management skills needed for IT consultancy and strategic decision-making.
The university has offered B.Sc. Computing and ICT postgraduate courses in Malta for the past 10 years and has recently appointed ETI as its collaborative partner in Malta. Local students will have direct online access to all learning resources available to the university's UK students.

Postgraduate education programmes
St Catherine's High School, Pembroke, recently launched two Malta-based postgraduate programmes offered by the University of Sheffield - a postgraduate masters in early childhood education and a doctorate in education programmes.
Registrations for the next intake are already being accepted. In January, interested potential students will be able to hold one-to-one meetings at St Catherine's with officials from the university.

English language winter courses
Applications are now open for the English language winter courses for children from Year 4 (primary) till Form 5 Matsec to be held Royal British Legion (Malta Branch), 111, Melita Street, Valletta.
The courses start in December and are spread over nine weeks on Saturday mornings till February and will serve to prepare students for their half-yearly exams. No textbooks are required as pupils will be given age- and level-appropriate handouts.
