Vision to generate jobs
Joseph Muscat's Budget reply was all doom and gloom, depicting a leaderless country lacking any sort of vision. I guess we all know Dr Muscat by now: all talk and no substance. A few days later SR Technics announced it would be creating hundreds of new jobs. If this is a lack of vision, then I wonder what Dr Muscat considers as good vision?

Joseph Mario Schembri
All talk and no substance is Gonzi because he promised a lot of things and has not kept his word. Joseph is in opposition and Gonzi is supposed to be governing so Gonzi is the one to blame.

The little elves are those who from far away Canada think they can teach those who live in Malta what is better for them. Your writings will be a little bit more credible if you were to come here and enjoy our heaven on earth under Gonzi. Until then no one will believe any comments that you write Martinelli. As for the power station how about the published e-mails, the 4 million commission, the conflict of interests etc Martinelli?

Any Goverment's role is to create jobs, Organise, the Courts, The Military defence, and probably, the refuse collection system. All else should be the resopnsiblity of citizens. THe idea that BIG BROTHER needs to provide everything for the people needs to change to enpower people to think a little more than they do!

"Joseph's speech was full of holes while completely devoid of any evidence that he knows bugger all about economics"
Thank you for admitting publicly that Dr Muscat's speech was "completely devoid of any evidence that he knows bugger all about economics". What you are saying is that Dr Muscat DOES know about economics. There's hope for you yet! ;-)
One notes, however, that in your case you seem to know "bugger all" (your choice of words) about honesty in your comments. The "allegations against BWSC" were made by a Danish newspaper; Dr Muscat passed the relevant cuttings on to the auditor. The Honourable Minister subsequently relayed the same cuttings to the company for their comments! Perhaps you are familiar with the story about asking turkeys for their opinion re the Christmas dinner?
As for the electricity, water, gas and fuel tariffs, it is not "the l'il elves" but INDUSTRY that wants to know so that they can better plan for their operating costs. While someone with your 'superior' knowledge about everything would know that, it takes an HONEST person to acknowledge the importance.
But don't let that discourage you! ;-)

It all boils down to the electricity, water, gas and fuel tariffs, doesn't it J Borg? Only because it's all the little elves understand! The rest of the Budget is not that important, after all!
It is all right for the Opposition to disagree with some measures, but it is also its responsibility for it to explain why it does not approve and HOW it would handle a particular issue. Joseph's reply to the Budget speech provided the public with no recommendations and no workable solutions. Rather he again harped on the effects of higher W&E rates which are inescapable due to higher oil prices. Instead, the latest caper is the allegations against BWSC who won the contract for the Delimara Station expansion. Why? Again because the li'l elves will understand it quickly and especially those who recollect the old Socialist slogan 'jew b'xejn, jew xejn!'. In other words they are looking for 'free handouts' the 'free' being by necessity, higher taxes in order to make up for subsidies.
Joseph's speech was full of holes while completely devoid of any evidence that he knows bugger all about economics. He preached less government revenue and increased spending!

If Mr Schembri considers that "Joseph Muscat's Budget reply was all doom and gloom", presumably he also has in mind Dr Muscat's long list of unfulfilled - and annually repeated - promises that are / were made by the present administration. As for what Mr Schembri himself "considers as good vision" in connection with the announced SR Technics investment and the "hundreds of new jobs", three words spring to mind: Chickens, Eggs, Counting.

Read what K, Farrugia has to say about the fishing industry and the gloomy figures tell the whole story; yet,not a hiss from the Budget seat!. It is not the Maltese that lack the entrepreneurial spirit, but the PN government that has lost its propulsive thrust to spear change and innovation.
The PN is locked in the 70's and 80's, because it has no vision for the hard-working Maltese. Gonzi and his accolades are good at at dishing our rhetoric whilst our infrastructure falls in shambles!
Vision to generate jobs? Do a google search on the company that is coming here, and you will be flabergasted with its history.
People do their own research and have eyes to see, and ears to hear. The Maltese have lost hope that Gonzi will ever get us out of the mess he got us in!
Malta needs a new young leader who has the stamina and strenght to start moving things again.
Dr Gonzi and the PN has sapped the last drops of marrow from our bones!

and what vision did the prime minister list out in his reply.....but spending more than half his speech on this agreement.
what everybody wants to know at this time and moment is how much are the electricity, water, gas and fuel tariffs are going to be come 1st january.
also i think that you are really blue eyed, as for me Joseph Muscat also listed those things that are good.
and what do you expect that the opposition does the governments work, after all the government that's why it was elected to bring investements......as i think that what will Joseph Muscat and his team will do when elected in government.
