GO adds new entertainment channels to TV line-up

GO plc said today that it has improved its TV channel line-up by adding FOXlife and FX. They will be launched on Monday featuring some of the world's best tv series including Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy, Family Guy, Flash Forward and Dirty Sexy Money.

Throughout December, FOXlife, viewed on channel 300, and FX (channel 301) will be available to all GO tv customers as a promotional open view period. As of 1 January, FOXlife and FX will be exclusively available on Gold+ tv line up including Home Pack 42 customers.

FX targets the male audience while FOXlife focuses more on women. FX will launch in other countries on the same date as it will be available to GO tv customers enabling local viewers to follow series from episode 1. FOXlife already distributes to Europe and will be scheduling catch-ups of the content that the channel carries for Maltese viewers.

"FOXlife is more than just a channel - it is way of life and guarantees top notch entertainment for every woman," GO said.

"Already present in more than 25 countries worldwide, FOXlife is the FOX International Channel's entertainment channel for women and the men in their lives. FOXlife hosts an eclectic mix of the best international fiction and reality programming designed to match the outlook and energy of its modern woman target. FOXlife mixes comedy, drama, scripted first-run series with FOX quality and feminine sensibility. Premium award winning international tv series and realities include the latest seasons of "Brothers and Sisters", "Desperate Housewives", "Grey's Anatomy", "Dirty Sexy Money", "Ghost Whisperer", "Castle" and much more."

FX, a high quality entertainment channel already distributed by FOX International Channels into over 51 million homes in 47 countries, targets a young audience, from 18 to 49 years old, mainly but not exclusively men, with huge international success premiering international drama fiction, sci-fi, reality and animation series such as "Flash Forward", "Crash", "Line of Fire", "Dollhouse" and "Battlestar Galactica", and classics such as "X-Files", "The Simpsons", and "Family Guy".

The best and most intoxicating reality series are also included, guaranteeing an adrenaline rush: "Amazing Race", "Dhani Tackles the Globe", "Bridget's Sexiest Beaches" or "I Can't Believe I'm Still Single". This content creates a programme mixture that makes FX the strongest male entertainment TV brand that GO tv subscribers can look forward to, the company said.

"We are delighted to be introducing these new high powered tv channels that will be available to all GO customers as an open view period throughout the month of December. The launch of FOXlife and FX is strongly in line with GO's ongoing drive to continue to enhance its television offering and ensure that it continues to meet the expectations of even its most discerning customers," said GO's tv Product Manager, Michèle Dandria.

"This is a unique chance for new and existing GO customers to make the most of an even better tv package while hugely enhancing their viewership experience with tv entertainment that is indisputably the best and most affordable in the market."

Well done GO. GO on and keep it up. 2 fantastic channels to our gold line-up. Now how about a proper movie channel?

They can add all the channels in the world but as long as their picture quality keeps being so poor, i'll never leave Melita Digital. When viewed on my 42" inch LCD screen, most channels on the GO Line Up look simply abysmal! Compared to Melita's Premium channels, like Melita Sports and Melita Movies&More (of which i am a loyal customer), no channel in GO's lineup can match neither quality nor content.

To be fair, i can't agree with some of the comments i'm reading regarding repetitions etc..since neither GO nor Melita have control on which shows Discovery broadcast for example! I for one, love the Discovery Channels, and if I happen to encounter a re-run of a particular episode, i simply change to the next Discovery Channel...i was surprised to find a new free Discovery Channel, Investigation Discovery on my Melita set-top box last Monday, and was very satisfied.

Dear Go - I say why don't you invest in decent sport channels like Melita is doing? It is high time we GO viewers/foot ball lovers are treated like Melita spectators. When I originally joined Multiplus we had Italian soccer. As soon as GO bought the station, it vanished as they lost the rights to Melita. I rethink as soon my contract expires.

I fully concur with some of the comments submitted, stating that the Silver channel is rather poor, and full of repetitive programmes. It is a must that GO should delve into ways and means as to upgrade the Silver channel at all cost, by removing some of its programmes which are considered as pure rubbish and replace by some good stuff. Only then would GO assures itself as to remain the leader in the field; otherwise viewers will be opting to have dishes and do away with the local stations completely.

...and what happened to sailing channel?
C. Farrugia (on 27/11/09)
Keep it up Go!. After all it is a question of content as compared to price. As regards to Go! this is very well worth it.
Chris Gatt (on 27/11/09)
These are good enough channels and are of more worth than the channels they replaced. Im sure GO had checked the least viewed channels and put them off. If they are adding new channels they have to remove some from their current line up, since all the frequencies they have the right to transmit on are probably all in use hence the reason of putting off channels like ESPN and Sailing whatever.
Enzo Caruana (on 27/11/09)
And what about the cartoon channels - including Baby TV - that keep on going through late at night. I agree with Mr Farrugia that Silver is full of repetitive programmes. C'mon GO give us a better deal. we deserve better.

Why are you grumbling? Two great stations with the latest series programmes. And you don't need to pay a premium to watch these tv series - as is the case with Melita More. Good job GO!
Joseph Schembri (on 27/11/09)
I don't know why people complain here. Do it directly with the provider and put your money where your mouth is. There are innumerable free or low cost alternatives nowadays. I think that if a person is lazy enough to pay for rubbish then he deserves what he gets.
Joe Belli (on 27/11/09)
Yes indeed!, Can please someone explain why ESPN classic has been removed from the channel line up.
Duncan Sant (on 27/11/09)
For me this is a great addition to the current line up.... I am already a Gold Subscriber and now I have the added bonus of watching most of our favourite TV Serieses ...... definately a great addition.
Evella (on 27/11/09)
@J Farrugia at least its cheaper than melita
a jansen (on 27/11/09)
@j. farrugia very well said as it is so true. no further comment
J Farrugia (on 27/11/09)
Dear GO is this the line up you are giving to those who are paying for your services? You can keep these FOX channels to yourself. You're just trying to get money for nothing, since speaking for myself, I am not interested in such channels. Your lineup is a lousy choice even the silver packet. Same repetitions of same programmes on Discovery channels, same repetitions on MGM and TMC, same repetitions. What are we payign the silver for? Just to view crap? Halluna GO. Today it is much better to have a video or DVD player and rent some proper films instead of opting to go with either GO or the other pay stations. Malta is paying millions for nothing.
Mario Sciberras (on 27/11/09)
Why has the ESPN channel been taken off?
