Monitoring of hunters (2)
I refer to the report BirdLife Guns Blazing At Voluntary Wardens Idea (November 21). Henry Fenech Azzopardi's idea is in no manner connected with FKNK's paid advert Call for Applications for Hunting and Trapping Marshalls.
Nowhere in FKNK's advert is it stated that 200 persons will be employed, or that they have to be hunters.
When the government issued a public call for bird migration observers, for an independent study rubbished by BirdLife Malta, only hunters and trappers applied.
So for foreign-led BirdLife Malta, foreigners from their raptor camps and from their partners CABS can carry out this necessary purpose, while local FKNK marshals cannot.
Time and results will tell, just as we are convinced that the final report of the bird migration study will further confirm the European Court of Justice verdict September 10, 2009 which stated that in the particular case of Malta, hunting in autumn for the turtle dove and the quail does not constitute a satisfactory alternative to the same hunting in spring. Anybody can bet that BirdLife Malta will also negatively criticise this report.
It has become normal for BirdLife Malta to take a negative approach.

To all the negative comentors just a few questions:
1. How many fellow citezens have you personally reported to the police for some offence or other? I know how hard it is to obtain a witness from an incedent that happened to me.
2. How many poachers have been reported by blm? Beacuse they always have the pics but hardly ever the poacher. Do they really want the poacher outcasted or is he actually a propoganda tool they will really miss?
3. On your yard stick we should close down the law courts because of a proven bribary case? Or should we eradicate blm for the lies they said about the autumn alternatve or the famous main migratory flyway, which were shot down by the ECJ?
On another tone if hunting bags are so plentyfull in Malta then why is it that Malat was never a tourism for hunting activities like the UK, Scotland, Ireland, Italy, Franch, Spain, Finland....??
Naturally blm & their ilk oppose green wardens because after having their lies exposed by the ECJ they now fear that their only weapon at hand i.e. the paocher may be made extinct with the help of the hunters

I confirm that when I came up with the wardens initiative I had no knowledge that the FKNK marshall scheme was imminent. As soon as I realised that, I immedeatly issued an advise in the times that I am withdrawing my suggestion and recommended all interested to direct their application for marshalls through FKNK.
It is worth noting however, that my sheme was also open to everybody with the scope of curbing illegal hunting.
I congretulate FKNK for their efforts and at the same time regret the negative stand taken by birdlife.

"It has become normal for BirdLife Malta to take a negative approach"... You can say that again Lino.. they have now become the virtuous paragons of negativity !!!
