World renowned technology leaders Honeywell and Simons Voss Technologies were introduced in Malta as key suppliers to G4S security systems during a business breakfast presentation held recently.

Kenneth De Martino, managing director of G4S in Malta, said the company had taken a strategic decision to start focusing on security systems last year. The company has built a growing client base in this field and made one local acquisition. There are more in the pipeline.

Silvio Ferrari of Honeywell introduced the company's automation and control solutions range, which since 2001 has grown to be as big as the aircraft engine part of the business.

Two Honeywell intruder alarm panels were demonstrated, the Vista 12/48 and the Vista 120. The first is for residential and small commercial installations; the second for big installations, including office complexes and manufacturing sites. Mr Ferrari also showed the Honeywell range of PIR sensors and glass breaking detectors.

Gabriele Bartoli of Simons Voss Technologies, a German company set up in 1995 that is a world leader, demonstrated a digital wireless locking and access control system that enables exceptional flexibility and an audit trail of 3,000 operations on each lock.

The system replaces the mechanical lock, and keys or cards are replaced with a transponder, eliminating the need to have a key for every lock.
