Migrant denies involvement in attempted murder

An illegal immigrant was today remanded in custody after he denied his involvement in the attempted murder of another immigrant during a fight between two groups on October 4.

Mohamed Mahadallah Ahmed, 18, from Somalia pleaded not guilty to trying to kill Abdi Risaq Farah and slightly injuring Jama Ahmed Omar during the fight at Ħal Far open centre.

The fight had been over Khat. A group of migrants from Marsa Open Centre had gone to Ħal Far to try and steal from the migrants there, Police Inspector Anthony Portelli told the court.

The arraignment followed that of Abdalla Mahammud Abdirahmaan, 25 and Hassan Mohamed Weliyo, 20, who pleaded not guilty to seriously injuring Osman Hassan Mohammed in late October.
