A man was convicted by two separate courts today over a case which happened in 2005.

Salvino Muscat, 46, of Qawra was jailed for 11 months and fined €1,700 by Magistrate Lawrence Quintano for trafficking cocaine.

The case went back to February 10, 2005, when Mr Muscat was found in possession of 5 grams of cocaine which was 53 per cent pure. He was also found in possession of 18 Lm10 banknotes which turned out to be false. The discoveries were made during a police raid at his home.

He was tried separately for possession of counterfeit banknotes and given a suspended 18-month jail term by Magistrate Audrey Demicoli.
