A 47-year-old man was today jailed for four years after he admitted to defrauding a number of people and two banks for a total of €13,000.

Police Inspector Ian Abdilla said that a postwoman who was suffering a drug problem used to hand Raymond Callus, of Paola, cheques addressed to other people and he used to cash them after he falsified the signatures.

The court also heard that Mr Callus had just been released after serving a 13-year jail term.
