The Honorary Consulate of Slovakia in Malta organised a violin and piano recital by internationally acclaimed violinist Dalibor Karvay and pianist Ivan Koska, followed by a reception at the Casino Maltese in Valletta, to mark the Slovak national day of Slovakia.
Distinguished guests included President George Abela, Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi, as well as Presidents Emeriti Ugo Mifsud Bonnici, Guido de Marco and Eddie Fenech Adami, Dr Abela and Slovak Ambassador Stanislav Vallo made speeches and reciprocal toasts to each other and to the two countries. The anthems of Malta, Slovakia and the EU brought the official part of the evening to a close.
Mr Vallo then presented the Slovak Ambassador's Medal to eight individuals in recognition of their efforts in fostering the relationship between Slovakia and Malta.
