Hair, beauty marathon at Mcast

The 15th edition of the Hair and Beauty Marathon is being held from 11 a.m. today to midnight tomorrow at the Institute of Community Services, on the main campus of the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology, Paola.

During the 36-hour marathon, Mcast students and professional hairdressers and beauty therapists will provide hairdressing and beauty services at a discounted rate. This year the proceeds will go to the Malta Community Chest Fund.

Popular local singers, dancers and artists will also provide entertainment during the event, which will be transmitted live on Education Channel 22 with occasional links to other local TV stations.

Students from other Mcast institutes will organise a number of activities and events during the marathon. Students following the Mcast-Btec national diploma in children's care, learning and development will provide a child-minding service.

Agribusiness students will sell a variety of herbs and plants.

A group of students will sell various delicacies prepared by themselves and others will organise a car wash. This year, there are also a variety of fundraising activities being held in Gozo. These will include a car wash today from 9 a.m. in Victoria, near the bus terminus.

A concert entitled 'Our voice 4 U' will be held at Mgr Farrugia hall, St George's Basilica, Victoria, today at 8 p.m. The concert will feature singers Martina Galea, Victor Bonanno, Tom Gardner, pianist Jenny Meade and violinist Tatjana Chircop.
