A debate entitled 'Exploring Erasmus' was recently held on campus by AEGEE-Valletta during which the Erasmus programme was dissected and examined from both an administrative and a practical point-of-view.

Annhelica Agius and Maria Vella from the University's International and EU Office explained how and when students should apply.

Jean Portanier, an ex-outgoing Erasmus student, and Eftelya Nurten, a current incoming Erasmus student, then outlined the difficulties that one might encounter on Erasmus exchange, such as language barriers and credit transfer problems.

However, they agreed that in spite of these difficulties it is an enriching adventure that helps students develop their personality.

The panel then answered questions from the audience.

AEGEE considers the setting up of the Erasmus programme in 1987 as one of its greatest achievements, and it still lobbies on issues affecting the rights of Erasmus students today.
