All external glass apertures at the €180 million Fort Cambridge residential project will be glazed, ensuring good solar protection.
This environmentally-friendly measure will result in substantial energy saving, especially when air conditioning is in use.
Glazing with solar protection is crucial for the comfort of people living or working in the building. This was announced by Fort Cambridge chairman George Muscat during the award of the €2.5 million external apertures tender to Framegrip Industries, of Mosta Road, Lija.
All aluminium apertures at Fort Cambridge will have Metra Spa profiles - considered to be among the most technologically advanced and high quality on the market. This kind of profile is ideal for sliding doors, as it can withstand heavy structures and ensures smoothness when opening and closing. Furthermore, the aluminium structures will have a flapvent that can be opened and closed for ventilation.
Mr Muscat said the investment in environmentally-friendly measures is part of a commitment towards ensuring that all properties are energy-saving buildings. Other energy-saving initiatives include a water-cooled air-conditioning system, as well as the construction of a reservoir underneath the properties, which will accumulate water from roofs and terraces to irrigate surrounding gardens.
