Chief sponsor backs Balzan's drive to upgrade facilities

Balzan Youths FC recently held a news conference to present their new signings and sponsors for this season.

At the media event, staged at Liquid Club, George Borg, the club president, was flanked by Anton Tagliaferro, of Investors Mutual Limited, who had flown to Malta specifically for this occasion.

Investors Mutual Limited have extended their sponsorship deal with Balzan Youths who gained promotion to Division One at the end of last season. Tagliaferro is also giving the Youths financial assistance to complete their training grounds and new clubhouse project.

In his address, Borg thanked Tagliaferro for his backing as well as all the other persons who helped Balzan to secure the necessary documents and permits to undertake this project which is also being partly funded by UEFA and the Malta FA.

Borg also announced that Balzan have signed a kit sponsorship deal with TeamSport. The senior, minors, U-17 and U-15 teams are using Lotto apparel this season thanks to the agreement with TeamSport.

Balzan's new signings for season 2009/2010 were also presented during the news conference. These are player/coach David Carabott, Nigerian striker Peter Anizoba Chizoba, Renie Forace, Simon Aquilina, Simon Shead, David Fenech, Fredrick Tabone, Glenn Tanti and Morgan Izuchukwu Onuorah who is yet to make his debut for Balzan.

Joe Caruana Curran, a representative of the Kunsill Malti għall-Isport, Balzan Youths committee members, players and representatives of the sponsors, also attended the news conference.

The Division One club's other partners for this season are Heinz, Vitalite, Plaza Centre, Design Elements, Stephen Gatt - Sports Photographer, M150 Energy drink and Kemimport Ltd (Lotto perfumes).

Balzan kick off their Division One league campaign tomorrow with a match against St George's.

The Youths have progressed to the second round of the U*Bet FA Trophy after crushing Msida St Joseph 5-0 and also made it to the fourth round of the National League 100 Anniversary Cup after a 3-0 victory over Qrendi. Balzan will meet Premier League side Tarxien Rainbows in the fourth round of the Anniversary Cup.
