A 36-year-man from the Dominican Republic was today accused in court with the importation of an unspecified amount of cocaine after capsules were found in his stomach.

The man, who arrived in Malta with his girlfriend two days ago, was taken back to hospital after the arraignment since more capsules are thought to remain in his stomach.

Richard Andrews Perez pleaded not guilty and was remanded in custody.
