Two foreigners arrested following cocaine find

Two foreigners have been arrested after one was found to be carrying cocaine in his stomach.

The police said the arrests took place in Sliema yesterday afternoon after they were informed that the two foreigners, who had arrived in Malta from Brussels the previous night, were likely to be in possession of drugs.

After a search which proved negative, the two foreigners, born in the Dominican Republic but resident in Spain, were taken to Mater Dei and following medical tests one, a 36-year-old, was found carrying drug capsules in his stomach.

The man had swallowed 80 capsules containing around 800 grammes of cocaine.

His female partner, 35, was arrested for further investigations.

An inquiry is being held by Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera.
