Spain's royal couple in Malta next week
King Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofia of Spain will be in Malta on Wednesday and Thursday.
The Spanish royal couple were invited to Malta by President George Abela.
During their visit, six bi-lateral agreements would be signed, including one on the formation of a joint committee on mercantile treaties between Malta and Spain.

What’s this entire hullabaloo for. Just the M.I.P. from Spain paying a 2 day visit. Most probably all the Maltese VIP including nobility will deploy their best attire. Hope the lunch will not cost 5000 Euros each at least. It would be an insult to the poor of Malta.

I am really happy that their majesties King Carlos and Queen Sofia of Spain are finally visiting Malta. The reason being very different to the rather provincial ones expressed below (with due respect to everyone). Recently, I spent a year studying and working in Spain, and the people of this fantastic, modern, industrious, amazingly beautiful, intriguing, fun-loving, sometimes thought- provoking country of many contrasts, cultures, passions, rich history and vivid traditions, are truly one of a kind; so openminded, so kind, so warm and so welcoming. I feel truly honoured by this upcoming special visit. Bienvenidos a nuestras tierras.

Are they coming to Bugibba?,; hope so as somebody might fill in the potholes in the roads, clean the roads and pavements and generally spruce the town up a bit before they get here. Nothing like a royal or papal vist to force the authorities to get their finger out.

I hope they will find time to come over to Gozo, too.

So that explains the flurry of activity to clean up the centre strips.
No new tarmac for their Majesties?
