I refer to the letter by Mario Agius regarding the refund on cancelled flights to Catania.

I too had three December 8 fares with return flight on December 19 cancelled, with no refund to date forthcoming.

However, I have contacted the Consumer and Competition Division at the Office of Fair Trading, Cannon Road, Sta Venera, tel. 2144 6250-5. A certain Odette Vella who has a weekly contribution in The Sunday Times was very helpful and efficient with my case.

The Director of Consumer Affairs has appointed an officer in charge of complaints to deal directly with my case. Efly Company Ltd has an office at 55, Mensija Road, San Ġwann. When I approached the local office I was told that flights are only being affected in November which is not true as they are not operating anymore flights to Malta.

They sent me away by claiming they are only dealing with refunds of bookings by cash payment. (I do not think many people went to their office in San Ġwann to pay and book for their flights!) Obviously, as I had paid directly online when booking by credit card, I was told to deal directly with their Catania office. On contacting this office I was told that they are dealing with refunds on a day-by-day basis i.e. I will have to wait till they refund the December flights as November ones come first.

I pointed out that I paid for three fares over two months ago, when the flight was inaugurated and thus was owed the refund immediately but they said that was the policy they were working on.
