A Malta Racing Club delegation, led by Mark Vella and Paul Borg, the club's marketing director and secretary respectively, yesterday travelled to France for the annual Maltese and French horse racing race, the Prix de Malte.
The top eight drivers representing Malta in this event are Noel Baldacchino, Charles Camilleri, Charlò Debono, Tony Demanuele, Julian Farrugia, Rodney Gatt, Brian Hili and Darren Mizzi.
All eight drivers will compete in the Prix de Malte, a 2,050m race, tomorrow at the Hippodrome de Cordemais in France.
The race promises to be a competitive affair between the Maltese drivers and their counteparts from France.
Last year, three Maltese drivers claimed three first-place finishes.
"I am proud to be heading this Maltese delegation in France," a MRC statement quoted Vella as saying. "Our drivers know that they have a difficult task to emulate last year's performance."
A number of official meetings have also been scheduled between the MRC officials and SECF high-ranking officials Jacques Chartier and Benoit Fabrega.
