Hanover: Hanover 96 will play Schalke 04 on Saturday in a special shirt dedicated to the memory of their former captain Robert Enke who committed suicide last week. Saturday's game at Schalke 04's Veltins Arena will be Hanover's first league game after the tragedy and the team will play in a special shirt with a small number one in a black circle in the centre of the chest.

Liverpool: Liverpool have paid an undisclosed fee for Luton youngster Dave Moli. Fourteen-year-old forward Moli had been part of the Hatters' under-15 side but will now move to Merseyside, where he will continue his schooling and train at the Reds' academy.

Olsen: Former Denmark international Jesper Olsen has been appointed as one of two assistant coaches to Australia's new A-League team, the Melbourne Heart. Olsen will join former Australia international Ante Milicic as assistants to head coach John van 't Schip when the Heart join the expanded A-League for the 2010-11 season.

Gibbs: Arsenal left-back Kieran Gibbs was taken to hospital for an x-ray after hobbling off with a foot injury in the 21st minute of England's goalless European under-21 Championship qualifier in Lithuania on Tuesday British media reports said he left the stadium in Vilnius on crutches and was initially feared to have broken a metatarsal, although his club manager Arsene Wenger will have to wait for a medical update to find out the full extent of the injury.

Milito: Barcelona defender Gabriel Milito, who has been out with a serious knee injury, played his first match for more than 18 months yesterday. "I had a very good feeling after such a long time out," he told Barca TV after playing the first half of a 4-1 friendly win over Peruvian side Bolivar. "I am making very significant progress even though I know I am still locked in the recovery phase," the Argentine added. "I don't know (when I will play a competitive match) but it'll take a while yet."

Santon: Inter teenage defender Davide Santon needs surgery after injuring his knee in Italy's 4-0 win over Luxembourg in a European under-21 championships qualifier on Tuesday. "Tests showed an injury to the lateral meniscus of the right knee," the Serie A champions said. The 18-year-old has won five full Italy caps since making his international debut against Northern Ireland in June, but had dropped back to the under-21 squad after his failure to make Inter's starting line-up of late.

Cycling: Former Australian mountain bike champion Chris Jongewaard has lost his appeal against a two-year jail sentence over a hit-and-run driving accident. Jongwaard was sentenced in September to two years in prison, with a non-parole period of nine months, over an incident in 2007 when he knocked down a fellow professional cyclist. The cyclist was seriously injured and unable to ride professionally again.

Horse racing: Bobby Frankel, a Hall of Fame trainer who saddled six Breeders' Cup winners and 2003 Belmont Stakes champion Empire Maker, died from complications of cancer at the age of 68. "Bobby Frankel was one of the greatest trainers in thoroughbred racing history," National Thoroughbred Racing Association president and CEO Alex Waldrop said. Frankel won 3,654 races from 17,657 starters and his horses earned almost $228 million, putting him second all-time on the money list to D. Wayne Lukas.
