Borg, Zammit in KO stages

Alex Borg and Simon Zammit are through to the knock-out stages of the IBSF World Championships.

Borg booked his place in the Last 64 of the men's competition when he eased past Faaris Kahn, of South Africa, 4-1. The Malta champion, who compiled a century break of 112, is leading Group D with a perfect record of four wins from as many matches.

Duncan Bezzina can join Borg in the KO stages today with victory over India's Dhruv Sitwala in Group M.

In the masters competition, Simon Zammit is also through to the next phase when he beat Clive Thomson, of New Zealand, 3-1 to reach the next phase. Zammit wrapped up his third win from four matches with a run of 105.
