Court hears how car was reversed at woman

Nicholas Bellotti, 34 of Cospicua, was today jailed for three months after being convicted of reversing his car at a woman, slightly injuring her. The case happened in January in St Nicholas Street, Cospicua.

Police Sergeant Kenneth Vella Gregory said the victim, Rosanne Aquilina, had claimed that the accused had assaulted her, threatened her and then driven at her. Had she not moved out of the way, she would have been seriously injured.

As it were, she only suffered slight injuries and she forgave him.

The court found that the accused had driven under the influence of alcohol, driven dangerously, failed to give his particulars to the police, and breached the peace.
