Taxiway, hangar, to host motor show

An airport taxiway and a hangar at Lufthansa Technik will next month host a motor show to raise funds for l-Istrina, the end of year charity fund raiser.

Paqpaqli ghall-Istrina will be held for the fifth year by Tonio Darmanin, who told a press conference today that the novel feature this year was that car owners would be able to show off the capabilities of their cars under controlled, safe conditions on the taxiway.

The event, which will be held on December 13, will also include go karting, races, displays by quad bikes and extreme offroading as well as exhibitions of vintage and modern cars and models.

The event will be held in collaboration with Malta International Airport, Lufthansa Technik and the Malta Motorsport Federation.

President George Abela, who heads the Malta Community Chest Fund - organiser of l-Istrina - thanked Mr Darmanin and the organising team for their initiative. He said that other fund-raising events by the Community Chest Fund will include the President's Charity Run on December 6 and an auction of works by local atists at San Anton palace on December 11.

L-Istrina will be presented on Boxing Day from the Lufthansa Technik hangar.
