Malta U-19 look to avoid bottom place

The Malta U-19 team will conclude their commitments in the UEFA Championship qualifying round Group 10 this morning when they take on Cyprus at the Centenary Stadium (kick-off 11.15 a.m.).

Silvio Vella's boys are still in search of their first points in this mini-tournament after losing their opening two matches against the Netherlands (1-0) and the Czech Republic (4-0) last week.

Cyprus also suffered back-to-back defeats and like Malta, they will be determined to claim the three points and avoid bottom spot.

The Netherlands and the Czech Republic are already sure of progressing to the Elite Round after winning their opening two matches.

The Czechs and the Dutch will be involved in a direct clash at the Hibs Ground, starting at 11.15 a.m.

Playing today: 11.15 a.m. (Centenary Stadium) Malta vs Cyprus; (Hibs Ground) Netherlands vs Czech Republic.

Standings: Czech Rep., Nethelands 6; Malta, Cyprus 0.
