Gozitan woman accused of trying to kill husband

A middle-aged woman was yesterday arraigned for trying to murder her husband during a domestic argument which erupted between them on Saturday.

Pawlina Portelli, 53, who was born in Xewkija but resides in Fontana, was charged with attempted murder, threatening and slightly injuring her husband and carrying a knife.

Sources said there had been an argument between Mrs Portelli and her husband, 55, and the man reported the incident to the police.

Mrs Portelli was denied bail and kept under preventive arrest by Duty Magistrate Paul Coppini.

Inspector Josric Mifsud prosecuted.
