World Diabetes Day

The Malta Medical Students' Association (MMSA) marked World Diabetes Day on November 7 by organising an awareness campaign.

A stand was set up at City Gate, Valletta, where the MMSA offered the public an opportunity to check their blood pressure and glucose levels, as well as their body mass index. Information was provided and leaflets distributed on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diabetes, as well as tips on how to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

The theme chosen by the International Diabetes Federation for this year's campaign was 'Diabetes Prevention and Education'. This illustrated the importance of evidence-based education in the prevention and management of diabetes and its complications.
