Digital Arts Awards honours best in the industry

The Digital Arts Awards on November 7 honoured the digital arts and media industries and trophies were presented to winners in a variety of disciplines, including advertising, graphic design, print, audio visual, photography and the web.

The Best Student and the Grand Prix/Best of Show were also honoured. Judges included Heidelberger vice-president marketing Europe, Middle East and Africa Volker Trapmann, Type Events Italy director Simone Angelica Wolf, Ars Animación teacher Nicolai Troshinsky, AV Technologies Ltd director and lead designer Ingo Mesche, and 5 Grams of Plastic marketing director Alastair Graham.

The Best Outdoor Campaign Award and Best Advertising Campaign Award went to JP Advertising for the Discrimination Awareness campaign; the Best Client Rejected Artwork Award to MPS for the Vodafone Christmas campaign; the Best Press Advertising Award to Red Orange for the Vodafone Join the Dots teaser advert and Best Communication Design Award to Red Orange for the Vodafone Euro Coin leaflet.

The Best Illustration Award went to George Mario Attard for Bird's Eye; Best Branding/Logos and Typefaces Award to Eden Leisure Group for Bay; Best Commercial Photographer Award to Pierre Camille; Best Digitally Enhanced Photo Award to Matthew Grima for Phase; Best Offset Print Award to Logix Communications for Rocs Travel brochures; Best Website (Content and Design) Award to Joseph Paul Darmanin for Pinkishline; Best Flash Website Award to Mark Cassar for Casasoft; Best Radio Commercial Award to MPS for Pelito; Best Digital Animation Award to Blaze for Pianoforte and Best TV Commercial Award to Blaze for Kristal.

Mauro Pirrone, Keith Galea, James Abela and Brian Fenech scooped the Best Student of the Year Award for their project for Microsoft's Imagine Cup.
