Delays in the issuance of airport security passes to Efly personnel were due to the airline’s late submission of application forms, the Office of the Manager Airport Security (Omas), within the Ministry for Home Affairs, said.

In a statement issued after the airline complained unnecessary delays in the issuance of passes, Omas said that the issuance of such passes was regulated by national and international regulations, which stipulated a detailed process.

It said that to-date, application forms of technical staff could not be processed since the company failed to provide passport sized photos of applicants as requested by the office.

Moreover, passes that had been ready for a number of weeks remained uncollected.

This notwithstanding, Omas said, technical staff were allowed access to the security restricted area, applying procedures in accordance with the security regulations until permanent passes were ready.
