Airport rejects airline's claims
The Malta International Airport yesterday rejected allegations made by low-cost airline Efly, saying that it had not hindered the airline's operations in any way and was simply sticking to its own rules.
Efly, which briefly operated a route between Malta and Catania, had alleged that MIA made it "next to impossible" for the company's service vehicles to access the aircraft and delayed the issue of entry permits to its technical staff.
After reviewing the situation, Efly suspended its operations.
But MIA yesterday said it adhered "to regulations and procedures intended to ensure that operational, security and safety measures are upheld", adding that other carriers flying to and from Malta had no problems operating under such conditions.
Employees operating on the airfield also had to obtain an Airfield Driving Permit and vehicles operating had to be registered and insured with the airport, therefore Efly's vehicles could not be used, MIA added.

MIA was bound to inform Efly about the nessary requirments, Efly is new to Malta, so i consider it's MIA to see that documents are to rule before issuing any permit. If MIA wants to do business, we have some how bow our head,it is also of interest to the country.Hope this issue want last four months and then forgoten.Malta has become of country of irrisponsable people,we are ready to blame the other of our neglet!!!!

Well, well. There we have it. i had predicted no more than two years in operation for this airline. Now it turned out to be less than two months.

It would appear that ineptitude rules the day in this ridiculous scenario. How can a business enter into a new contract without ensuring it is fully au fait with protocol and prcodeures to enable its operations>Also how can an Airport Management grant such a licensse for operation without ensuring that the new company was fully aware of ,and thereby compliant with, all the necessary procedures, regulations and permits to undertake such operations. It beggars belief!
