Duracell calls on consumers to support Challenge8000

Duracell has launched a consumer initiative that directly supports the Challenge8000 Maltese team who are the first ever Maltese team to attempt Everest next March.

The company is committing itself to giving a 10c donation to the team with the purchase of any pack of Duracell batteries.

“We wanted to engage shoppers in a cause of national pride,” said John Montanaro, Duracell commercial manager at V.J. Salomone Marketing Ltd, local representatives of the brand.

“We have strong faith in the ability of the three Maltese climbers – Greg Attard, Marco Cremona and Robert Gatt - and are with them all the way.”

“All those who purchase any pack of Duracell batteries will not only be joining us in aiding the team with much-needed funds but will also be extending moral support to this extreme challenge, apart from, of course, getting top quality batteries. By picking Duracell batteries, shoppers will be making one small virtual step with the boys,” he said.

The funds will go towards the many expenses that this expedition involves, that include clothing, climbing equipment, devices, assistance by a team of Sherpas, and travel costs in the Himalayas.
