Another super concert by Leone Band (2)
After the well acclaimed opera Aïda held last month, on November 7 the Leone band gave another successful performance at the Aurora, this time performing the annual band concert.
Under the baton of Mro Colin Attard, the band interpreted a healthy mixture of music, starting with classic selections, opera, contemporary and pop and finally concluding with Shostakovich's second Jazz Suite, in my view being the highlight of the evening.
Those who attended the Leone Band in concert were treated to an 80-piece wind band, augmented with an extensive array of percussion to meet the requirements of the different musical styles performed.
This year the Leone Philharmonic Society organised four fully fledged concerts including the one held on November 7. All of these events have been well attended by locals and tourists alike. Together with the Opera in Gozo, similar events like band concerts also contribute to culture in Gozo and keep the island's cultural activity alive during the cold seasons.

Sorry mr farrugia but you are not informed well about the reinforced bandsmen. There was only 11maltese foreingers as
they were 3trumpets,2trombones,1euphonium,3clarinets and 2 basses and thats not a shame.other bands need 15 persons from
malta to do a small march or procesions in small villages. Some of them form a whole section from the band.

Dear G.Farrugia,
A more pity is that you don't even know how to count...I think this is more a comment which was written just to give a bad impression to whom is reading the article.
Thanks

It is a pity that to perform this programme the band was reinforced with 25 odd bandsmen from Malta. I know that Il Leone can perform without this outer help. Next time they should perform without hiring these mentioned bandsman
