The Malta Institute of Management is organising a seminar entitled Islamic Trusts on Wednesday at the Radisson SAS Baypoint in St Julians between 5 p.m. and 7.45 p.m. The seminar attracts both high quality speakers and delegates, including MIM chairman Reuben Buttigieg, Mario Farrugia Borg and Toby Birch.
Mr Buttigieg, said: "Muslims created trusts from the earliest times of the Islamic era for various purposes. In our era, a trust is created through a legal process of registration that requires the legal expertise of attorneys and other professionals.
"Malta with its Trusts and Trustees Act has an opportunity in front of it to provide such service to the Islamic community in the Mediterranean. The 1.5 million Muslims in Italy as well as in other Mediterranean countries do not have the appropriate legislation at hand."
The seminar, which has been accredited with 1.5 hours of structured CPE and qualify for the attainment of professional competencies in terms of the MIA CPE regulations, is being held in cooperation with various organisations including MIM and collaborating partners AirMalta, BOV and Business Today. The seminar sponsors are Erremme Business Advisors and Francis J. Vassallo Ltd.
More information about this seminar and application forms are available at MIM website www.maltamanagement.com (News and Events Section). The application process is done strictly online. One is kindly reminded to read the instructions when filling in the application form. A certificate of attendance will be awarded to the participants.
