I read with great interest the news about the reconstruction and restoration of the Salina canal and the salt pans.

This spot can easily be turned into one of the main tourist attractions in the area.

The proposed restaurant should be replaced by an audiovisual centre together with a small museum exhibiting traditional tools used in the production of salt from the pans as well as a picture gallery relating to the historical site that dates back to the time of the Knights. A small cafeteria would suffice instead of the restaurant. Guided boat trips around the canal and the salt pans would further enhance the attraction.

Another suggestion could be to twin the project with similar salt pans situated around the Mediterranean, creating a network of similar historical sites.
