Armistice Day marked

The 91st anniversary of the end of the First World War was celebrated by Fondazzjoni Wirt Artna today with the firing of a saluting gun at the Upper Barrakka in Valletta.

The ceremony marked the end of that conflict on the 11th hour, of the 11th day of the 11th month, in 1918.

TOUR OF MALTA’S MAIN NAVAL AND MILITARY CEMETERIES
Sunday, 15th November, 2009 - Floriana

A special guided tour of naval and military cemeteries in Malta is being organised on the anniversary of Armistice Day - The day when World War One ended. This is also the occasion on which all the war dead are commemorated. This tour will take participants on a trail of the major naval and military cemeteries in Malta.

This tour will be accompanied by Mario Farrugia, Chairman of Fondazzjoni wirt artna, who will provide a running commentary along the route. The tour will leave from in front of the

Phoenicia Hotel in Floriana at 2pm (14.00hrs) by organised transport.
