The Catholic religion is, as far as I know, embedded in our Constitution and therefore the State is in duty bound to safeguard it as it would any other decree in the said Constitution.

In Italy, Catholicism, as being the recognised religion of the State, was removed from the Constitution in 1984. Here, I believe, is what makes the decree by the Court Of Human Rights vis-à-vis the request made by the Finnish lady in Italy different from any request anybody may wish to make regarding the display of crucifixes in State buildings in Malta.

I would appreciate further comment on the above - especially those legal.
