The Aquatic Sports Association (ASA) have struck an agreement with the Federazione Italiana Nuoto (FIN) to enable Maltese waterpolo referees gain more experience on the international scene.

Remy D'Amato, ASA general secretary, held initial discussions with Paolo Barelli, the FIN president. These preliminary talks were followed up by meetings in Rome and Pescara headed by Austin Sammut, the ASA president, and Mario Dalli, from the Malta Waterpolo Referees Association (MWRA).

Bertie Muscat, the honourary president of the ASA, D'Amato and MWRA officials Ivan Sciriha and Massimo Angileri were also present for the signing of the agreement.
