Favourites stay on course

Favourites Hibs Medsea and Luxol sealed their place in the semi-finals of the Women's KO after victories over Loyola Allcare Insurance and Starlites Sports Experience respectively.

In the other match, Honey Athleta surprised St Andrews.

Luxol maintained their positive start to the season when they outclassed Starlites with youngster Steffi Demartino finishing the game as top scorer with 24 points.

After the opening minutes, Luxol began to dominate and led 37-24 at half-time. As Starlites were unable to raise their game, Luxol cruised to a 69-21 victory.

Hibs were superior to Loyola. Taking control from the jumpball, they were 26-14 ahead at half-time.

Hibs maintained their supremacy after the interval to run out 67-29 winners.

Athleta managed to avenge their previous two defeats to St Andrews in the MBA Shield and National League. Led by veteran coach Joe Miceli, Athleta opened up a small gap in the closing minutes of the first quarter, 17-13.

Athleta hung on to lead 24-21 at half-time. The match remained balanced but in the last 10 minutes, St Andrews' performance took a nosedive and Athleta stayed cool to win 53-33.
