Updated: Man rescued by helicopter after falling in Gharghur valley

(Adds details)

A man was hoisted to safety on an Italian Military Mission helicopter after falling and suffering fractures in a valley near the Victoria Lines in Gharghur.

The incident happened earlier this morning. The Armed Forces of Malta were informed by Mater Dei Hospital that a person fell in the vicinity of the Victoria Heights Valley, limits of Madliena.

The Civil Protection Department asked the AFM for a helicopter and retired ex-AFM serviceman 'Tiny' Xuereb, who was on site, rendered first assistance. He contacted the AFM and informed them that the injured man, 30-year-old, Johann Sant, was suffering from fractures.

Hope that who ever was involved in the accident has a speedy recovery, and as always, a huge thanks to the Civil Protection Department members that are always present whenever an accident happens.
