Victories worse than defeat
It has been said that Europe has broken fresh ground in disallowing the crucifix in public places. An eminent author once said that "there are victories far worse than defeats - to overcome an angel to put out all his strength, and ride away in triumph on the back of a devil, is one of the poorest".
And if a footballer makes the sign of the Cross when going out on the field of play, he should be shown the yellow card!

What the Muslims failed to do over 1400 years of trying, what the Modernist/atheists have been trying to do without success since the time of the French Revolution, and their more modern Nazi and Communist politico/atheist counterparts failed to achieve in more recent times, despite their oppression and war, modern activist civil libertarians are achieving not through the will of the people but by "fiat" of unelected and unrepresentative judiciary which consider the rights of individuals and minorities (often foreign) to be superior to the rights of the majority and traditional values; The destruction of two millennia of Christian civilisation and tradition in Europe. As Louis XIV of France said "Apres moi, le deluge"

Dear Joe - This has already happened to Celtic's Polish Goalie Artur Boruc in 2006! Not a Yellow but a caution afterwards from the Police for inciting the Rangers supporters (Christian protestants not moslems or atheists!).

It is miserable that both our leaders protested only verbally against this intollance whereas Italy counter-protested against this 'ulra vires' decision.

Those who are getting cross at the court ruling can always be consoled with one certainty. If or when the crucifixes go down, a miracle shall occur.
A shadow in the shape of a cross shall miraculously appear where the crucifixes had been. The same miracle shall occur all over Italy.
Kids shall be instructed by teachers to write underneath, "By this sign ye shall conquer" or "Gone but not forgotten".
That spot shall become holy, never to be painted over. Painter unbelievers sent to paint over that shadow shall fall off ladders, arms shall fall off.
By the time someone decides to object about their children having to look at the shadow of the cross, the Malta sun would have done its work and the shadow will miraculously disappear just as miraculously as it appeared.

Although the decision to remove the Crucifixes was taken by the European Court of Human Rights, the EU Commission had also presented a proposal for a Directive which was passed by the Civil Liberties Committee on 16.03.2009 by 34 in favour 7 against and by the European Parliament by 363 in favour and 226 against and which could provide the possibility for a similar challenge in the ECJ.
It is to be noted that Kathalijne Maria Buitenweg of the Greens who was also a rapporteur appointed on 15.9.2008 had said that "Notwithstanding the obvious advantages of this Directive, we had to take whole months of hard work to gain support for it in the European Parliament."
Where do the Greens in Malta stand on this issue?
Can we also know how Simon Busuttil voted since he was one of the substitutes present for the final vote?

Europe is not disallowing the crucifix in public places. Get your facts straight before writing.

Welcome to the EU where you are governed and dictated to by unelected bureaucrats on the gravy train, with nothing better to do than think up potty ideas and claim large amounts of expenses.
