Order of St Lazarus investiture

An investiture ceremony was recently held for new candidates in the Grand Priory of the Maltese islands of the Order of St Lazarus, as well as for older members who obtained promotions and awards, at Robert Sammut Hall, Floriana, presided by the Grand Prior Chev. Joseph Pace.

The new postulants were Robert Xuereb, Mariosa Xuereb, Paul Scarrow, Janet Ann Scarrow, the Noble Liliane Avellino Drago D'Aragona, Paul Azzopardi, Elizabeth Azzopardi, Charles Raymond Coyne and Marjorie Yarker.

Promotions were awarded to Albert Falzon, Adrian Agius, Joseph Galea, Roderick Grech, John Mamo, Carmel Mangion and Marie Therese Vassallo, while Albert Cauchi and Ray Gatt were accepted as Knights.

Awards of Merit were presented to Joseph Debono, Victor Grech, Carmelo Saliba, Chevs. Joseph Griscti, David Zammit, Joseph Spiteri Audibert and Antoine Barbara.

After the Grand Prior read a special message by the Grand Master of the Order, Don Carlos Gereda de Borbon, the Bronze Cross of Merit was presented to the Chaplain and Charles Savona Ventura while the Silver Cross of Merit went to Michael Ciavola.

The event was concluded with a gala dinner at the Admiral's Landing of the Excelsior Grand Hotel, Floriana.
