Festival of Honey at Sta Venera
A Festival of Honey is being held for the second year at Romeo Romano Garden in Sta Venera, drawing hundreds of visitors.
The activity is being hosted jointly by the local council and the Ministry of Resources and features exhibitions on bee keeping and the production of honey, products made of honey including candles, cakes, roasted pork coated with honey, and even wine. Also on display are items related to apiculture and an exhibition of bee keeping and honey storage in the past.
Elizabeth Vella, Sta Venera Mayor said the number of exhibitors had doubled this year and she was very satisfied with turnout.
She said a particular attraction was a functional water mill pulled by a mule. The festival also included exhibitions of Maltese handicrafts.
Mrs Vella said the area around Roman Romano Gardens used to be popular for bee keeping and honey production generations ago,

The story that I learned at the Primary School was some 55 years since, and I am not sure if you heard that some progress has been made since with mechanical and now digital equipment to draw water from a borehole, hence I repeat that I thought that we have stopped mistreating animals!
I do however agree that there are some Lawyers that could do the donkey's work and tied up to that equipment and let them go round in circles, just like they do to some of their clients

It would be nice if the organizers would mention the hours and the exact location of this event. Not everybody knows, especially myself, where Romeo Romano Gardens are in St. Venera.
I spent 26 years in Canada and now that I am back, there are lots of new villages and towns that did not exist before I left. L-Iklin, Swatar, L-Ibragg, nobody had heard of them back then.
