Well done Malta...another sport Malta performs well is WATERPOLO , indeed perhaps their success is even greater as all the team is Maltese, (with the exception iof the coach)

It seems that you have no idea on what island you are living.

Since you seem to have Malta in your heath please visit the MRFU website and take a look at the results! Now after doing so please visit the MFA website and look at the results… Basically they speak by them self.

If it was soccer then yes.. I agree 100% with you. The next win will be in the next century.

Yet another BRILLANT result from our national team.

These gentlemen are the pride of Malta, well done to the players, MRFU, team manager.

You gave us supporters something to smile about. Other sports where thousands of Euros are splashed just leave sour grapes into our taste while RUGBY is talking facts and making noise however it seems that the authorities are BLIND , DEAF AND DEATH because until TODAY because until now our Rugby teams are still with no proper pitch where to play.

Back to the below issue C.Fenech.. Hmmm I am not a football guru so apologize for my ignorance but INWOKO for me DOES NOT SOUND or EVEN LOOK MALTESE… I think I made my point THANKS.

The game was fantastic, it was the first time I went to watch a game and the vibe in the stands is something that everyone should feel. It is a pity though how Malta Rugby has not been given a national stadium after such great results..... Can't understand what the minister is waiting for?

A big prosit and congratulations, but a bit unfortunate that the journalist thought it fit to mention that one of the Swedish players was English born. But don't get me wrong now: I think it is a great victory, whether some of the players are English, Welsh or Somail born - it takes nothing away from their performance.

Rest assured that the selection of players for the Malta National Rugby team is not taken lightly and is done within the Laws of the game.

It is a shame that after such a wonderful sporting display by a team representing your country you choose to be so negative. While your ignorance of the game might be excusable, your lack of National pride is not. I have seen these players dedicate their free time to representing Malta, put their body on the line and suffer on a regular basis for years now and they show a commitment to the cause far greater than you.

There is more Maltese blood in this National team than there will ever be in your heart.

I suggest you find the courage to come to the next home game and meet these players and maybe, only maybe you will become one of the lucky MALTESE to experience the passion and the satisfaction that this team has given us over the years.

Well exactly, they play for Malta because rugby rules allow it, not because they are Maltese. What will happen in a few years when sons of sons of sons of Maltese descendants won't be eligible to play any more (unless this can go on forever)? There will be no more pseudo-Maltese to play for the National Maltese Rugby team any more.... what will happen then?

Don't get me wrong, I wash the Maltese Rugby Team all the luck, but I am not fooling myself into thinking that the people out on the pitch are representing our nation.

As for your comment on Maltese football, I care about it even less than rugby :)

Besides, although I'm not totally sure about the rest or the Maltese-surname players, Bonavia and Borda are fully Maltese and play in local teams, so if you think that the local team is totally devoid of local talent, please stick to your failing local football.

Obviously you have absolutely no clue what you're talking about. They are descendants of Maltese emigrants, and according to Rugby rules (which I'm sure you wouldn't distinguish from horseracing or curling) are eligible to play in the Maltese National team. They are in fact professional players back in their country.

I am looking at Malta's lineup... how many of those are Maltese? How many of those can even talk in Maltese? This is ridiculous, they are playing for Malta because they are not good enough to play for their real nationality.

andrew cumbo-yes better but the game against the swedes(football) was a good one also.i think both football and rugby are the prime sports where we can achieve good results.they are most probably the two most sports which are followed by people-altough football has a larger number of people who follow it.we have to remember that in the last group,we achieved the highest number of points and the highest number of goals....apart from this we set the highest scoring win that of 7-1 against liechtenstein.in the recent group we hadnt any luck as dusan fitzel and shaun bajada confirmed in other previous interviews.we played among the biggest fotball nations but we gave a good account of ourselves especially against sweden and hungary.we should have easily scored some goals but luck was not on our side in this group from the very beginning of it............we all hope that in the next group we achieve good results as in football situations change quickly.FORZA MALTA!!!
