The visible trade gap narrowed by €79.7 million in September due to a drop in both exports and imports, according to provisional data issued by the National Statistics Office.

The NSO said the visible trade gap in September stood at €54.5 million following a drop of €119 million in the value in imports and a decrease in exports worth €39.3 million.

The drop in imports was mainly due to fuels and lubricants, industrial supplies and capital goods. Machinery and transport equipment mainly accounted for the decline in exports.

The visible trade gap narrowed by €200 million in the first nine months of this year, to stand at €895.7 million.
